What is the DGFF?
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Fremdsprachenforschung [German society for foreign language research] wants to bring together researchers who are active in one or more of the following fiel
- teaching and learning of foreign languages;
- acquisition and use of second languages;
- multilinguism;
- intercultural learning.
Currently, the DGFF has more than 400 members who cooperate in these areas. We hope that you share our goals, and we would be delighted to welcome you, too, as a member of our association.
The main goals of the DGFF are:
- supporting research related to foreign languages;
- promoting developments in second and foreign language learning and teaching in universities, schools and other institutions of learning;
- providing support to up-and-coming young academics in foreign language-related research;
- safeguarding institutional conditions for foreign language-related research, language teaching and the education of foreign language teachers at universities and other institutions in tertiary education.
The DGFF pursues these goals - inter alia - through these activities:
- organisation of a bi-annual conference on foreign language education and research;
- publication of the peer-reviewed Zeitschrift für Fremdsprachenforschung;
- publication of the monograph Beiträge zur Fremdsprachenforschung;
- funding of regional research symposia and publications based on these meetings;
- organisation of annual conferences for up-and-coming young academics.
